From Our New Executive Director

Dear Friends of the Sudbury Foundation,

I am excited to announce that I have been at the Sudbury Foundation as the new Executive Director for just over one week and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.

Professionally, I am a lawyer and I have had the privilege to work at both foundations and direct service organizations during my career. These opportunities have provided me with a depth of knowledge about the nonprofit sector. Personally, I am a resident of Natick, where I live with my husband, two children and a whole host of critters (dogs, cats and chickens!).

I first learned about the Sudbury Foundation five years ago when I was the Director of Development for MetroWest Legal Services. I was immediately impressed with the Sudbury Foundation’s community-centered philanthropy.

As an experienced nonprofit leader, I’m looking forward to working together to ensure that the critical needs of our communities are being addressed. Throughout my work, I have seen how important it is to understand the challenges and resources available to families, organizations and communities in the MetroWest region and beyond.

I would like to thank my predecessor, Marilyn Martino. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to know Marilyn and work with her over the past five years. I am grateful for her continued dedication to the Sudbury Foundation.

As I settle into my new role as Executive Director, I am looking forward to getting to know our grantees and scope of work better so I can support the Sudbury Foundation in furthering our mission.

Happy new year and I wish you a wonderful and prosperous 2022!

Sonia Shah
