  In support of a capital campaign for a series of facilities enhancements to this esteemed community-building institution.
   
 Crossroads Community Foundation, Natick, MA, $12,500
  For operating support for this regional community foundation serving 27 communities in the Metrowest area.
   
 Jewish Family Service of MetroWest, Framingham, MA, $20,000
  In support of Healing Partners, a program that encourages and trains faith communities to support the bereaved, caregivers and those living with illness.

  For technological enhancements at this agency which matches adult volunteers with boys and girls who can benefit from positive guidance and friendship.

  To increase the organization’s operational and administrative capacity by creating the part-time position of Technical Production Coordinator.

  For short-term operating support during a turnaround period while the Museums implement the recommendations of a development audit.

  To support a year-long board development consultation for this agency which provides services and programs to people with developmental disabilities.

  Over three years, in support of a development program to increase unrestricted member and business support for this local watershed group.

  To enable this human service agency offering counseling programs, residential group homes, and family-based outreach services to evaluate a new model of family-based care.
   
 Worcester Natural History Society/EcoTarium, Worcester, MA, $35,000
  To help the Ecotarium better understand and respond to the needs of its audience by conducting a marketing study.
 
Preservation of Community Character and Assets Grants 
 Charles River Watershed Association, Waltham, MA, $15,000
  To pilot the use of the SmartStorm rainwater retention system in Hudson, MA. SmartStorm is designed to reduce demand on potable water supplies for irrigation, reduce polluted storm water runoff, and enhance aquifer storage, thereby helping to sustain public drinking water supplies and increase river flow.
   
 Friends of the Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge, Marlborough, MA, $7,500
  To help train a team of volunteers in wildlife tracking techniques as a first step toward establishing a regional wildlife monitoring program.
   
 Friends of the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge, Bolton, MA, $4,400
  For continued support of the Wildlife Trails Education Project, which produces an ongoing photographic record of elusive resident animals available for interpretive use by refuge staff, teachers and students.
   
 Musicians of the Old Post Road, Waltham, MA, $10,000 (2 grants)
  For two area concerts by this professional chamber ensemble which reunites the music, instruments and performance styles of earlier centuries at sites along the historic Boston Post Road.
   
 SuAsCo Watershed Community Council, Maynard, MA, $15,000
  For continued short-term operating support for this community-based alliance that promotes the sustainable economic and environmental well-being of the Sudbury-Assabet-Concord watershed.
   
Wayland Historical Society, Wayland, MA, $2,200
  To restore the back hall ell of the Grout-Heard House to its 1840 appearance in preparation of the society’s 50th anniversary in 2004.
 
Youth Development and Opportunity Grants 
 Adolescent Consultation Services, Inc., Cambridge, MA, $40,000
  Over two years, to help this agency, which provides integrated prevention and intervention services to low-income, high-risk, court-involved youth and their families, launch the Child Advocate Pilot Project in the Framingham Juvenile Court.
   
Applied Developmental Science Institute-Tufts University, Medford, MA, $15,000
  To help bring the concept of positive youth and community development to the towns of Concord and Carlisle, MA through a series of activities and events in partnership with the volunteer community group, Alliance for Teen Safety.
   
Assabet Valley Mastersingers, Northboro, MA, $1,000
  To enable talented high school vocalists to perform choral masterworks with this professional choral group.
   
 Barbieri Parent Teacher Organization, Framingham, MA,$10,000
  For playground renovations that emphasize handicapped accessibility at this community playground located at the Barbieri School.
   
 Concord Orchestra, Concord, MA, $2,000
  In support of Young Artists Concerto Competitions in 2002 and 2003 that offer promising young musicians an opportunity to compete and perform with a full orchestra.

  Continued support for an innovative Framingham High School intervention program designed to enhance academic achievement for at-risk teens.

  To help provide student scholarships for a summer tour of Central Europe.
   
 Indian Hill Music Center, Littleton, MA, $10,000
  To support the Integrate Music Program designed to use music and movement to enhance mastery of traditional elementary school subject matter.
   
 MetroWest Latin American Center, Framingham, MA, $10,000
  In support of the Latino Youth Leadership Project, which trains teens to help their peers avoid sexually transmitted disease, unwanted pregnancy and substance abuse.
   
 Metrowest Symphony Orchestra, Marlborough, MA, $1,000
